The monitor I had from another cheaper brand I purchased from Amazon completely packed in after just 2 years. Before that, there were constant problems with it providing wildly incorrect BPM readings. So, I have gone for a quality product and so far it has worked perfectly providing accurate readings. I guess you get what you pay for.

I’ve been through a treasure trove of heart rate monitors, primarily for indoor & outdoor cycling, and indoor & outdoor rowing, and for 6 months this was the best of all of them. Consistently and accurately picked up heart rate straight away, pretty much put it on and it works. Unlike my experience with Coospoo, which generally revovled around connectivity to all the devices required for my pursuits, or Wahoo, where it could take up to 20 minutes and a weird ritual of “wetting the nodes”, to even begin to read “reasonable data”.So i went back to trusty Garmin, and for 6 months, cost and loyalty was rewarded. But then unfortunately, it just gave up, replaced battery (though after only 6 months this shouldn’t have been an issue!), but it just reads random now! sometimes < 100bpm, sometimes > 170bpm, all the while i “know” it should be in the 130-150bpm range … just can’t get it to work anymore, frustrating.

I’ve had an older Garmin HRM for about 10 years which has by and large worked flawlessly. I needed one with Bluetooth to use with an online training plan so picked this up over the summer.Pairing was a nightmare. I could pair it with ANT+ and Bluetooth to my Edge head unit, and ANT+ to a Samsung tablet with ANT radio built in, but my phone refused point blank to pair. Having tried many things in vain, the solution turned out to be to clear the phone’s Bluetooth and network data which did allow it to pair. Losing the Bluetooth data wasn’t too bad, but losing all the saved WiFi network credentials was a major pain. I’d thought they’d been backed up to Google as when I last migrated the phone it had migrated all the credentials, but nope, back to square one. It’s worked flawlessly since that and is very comfortable to wear, easy to clean etc. Battery life also seems like it will live up to expectations. Were it not for this issue, it would get 5 stars. It seems to be not entirely uncommon, but it’s not really acceptable that this is the only solution.

Very unreliable and inconsistent. Ive had it less than 1 month and it no longer works.
Jay_p –
Used and worn per instructions, does not always record activity, inconsistent. Need to keep checking to make sure it’s working. When it does work it does want it is meant to do. Annoying when you go for a good hard run at threshold, download your data and your heart rate is only low 60’s.

very accurate heart monitor but expensive

The monitor synched up right away with the Garmin cycle computer and gave no trouble.Owner found the chest strap easily adjustable. It was unobtrusive and comfortable to cycle in.Functions such as the user’s heart rate can be added from the monitor to the Garmin bike computer display for realtime information. The Garmin app gives access to the statistics collected with additional visual representations so there’s plenty to look at after the ride. This monitor is simple to use and very helpful. All all-round sound purchase and a great gift.

I found my initial experience exactly as other reviewers have reported. An easy to use and reliable device, I have paired with phone and gym equipment via bluetooth and watch via ANT+. The results are so much better than the watch HRM, and are enabling me to exercise within a tight HR range. I didn’t realise that the recorded HR defaults to the HRM only during an activity, and back to the watch HRM otherwise. Garmin Instinct2 watch. The adjustment straps are a bit fiddly, but you only set them once. To new to report on reliability, but so far, I am very satisfied.

Once it has finally connected to the health app it seems ok but constantly dropping connection or not able to pair. Doesn’t seem to work with the garmin app which seems odd and not much functionality that I can see

Good value for money and easy to use

Have had 2 x Garmin Run HRMs but they both stopped working within 12 months. Not prepared to try a 3rd so went for the Dual-HRM instead. Fingers crossed let’s hope this lasts a bit longer .works pretty well and connects to all Mr training devices.

After purchasing I found out that you needed to have an expensive app to use, so had to be returned. I had hoped that I could use with something already on my phone rather than having the extra expense, as only want for basic info

I decided to move back to using a HRM as the I wanted more accuracy when used in conjunction with a Garmin Edge. My previous Wahoo HRM gave up after 5 years so resorted to using my Garmin Instinct to provide the data source (albeit very inaccurate at times). Decided this time I’d go for a Garmin HRM but only when the price was right. Works seamlessly and has performed as expected. As with all Garmin products I hope they go on to last a long time.

Over the years I have had a variety of HRMs. The Garmin HRM is probably the most durable and reliable I have had. Like all things subject to sweat they fail in the end but my road bike Garmin has outlived all other brands.

I’ve got a peloton and need heart rate monitor . The peloton supplied one snapped . I needed to get another and this one seemed a good deal from a recognised manufacturer.I’m very happy with my purchase as it’s connects to the peloton really quickly , gives a good reading of heart rate and also shows its own battery status so you know when to replace the battery .👍

I thought this to supplement the wrist heart rate monitor in my Garmin 245 for triathlon training and competing. In comparison to the watch, the chest HRM has given a more accurate heart rate reading for training and racing. It was easy to connect to the watch and it’s simple to use, you just put it on and away you go.

Nice and comfortable to wear and send good information to my watch

Doesnt work on the Garmin connect app – by design according to reddit threadsIt also fails to pair on other apps used so returned it.It is detected by the phones bluetooth scanner after sometime passes, the device doesnt have any indicator that it is on or working so you end up just looking at your phones screen wondering if anything is actually going to happen. After a few attempts it was found and connected to the phone – connecting it to the apps on my phone however failed completely. Apps were able to detect it but once selected error messages would appear asking me to “enable bluetooth mode” to allow it to connect. The manual of HMR-Duel says there is no bluetooth mode to be enabled…Returned the item pretty quickly after reading that

Linked to Garmin Connect starts automatically, though cannot see heart rate unless on a workout/hike. Watch is a Fenix 3. Due to a heart condition i needed to see where my limitations lay whilst exercising. Therefore overall happy with the heart rate strap against purchasing a new watch.

I bought this unit to replace my previous Garmin HRM (which had lasted a good 10 years). The sensor itself is great quality and the strap is soft and comfortable. I’d definitely recommend although Garmin HRMs are cheap they are good quality. I bought mine during a promo so saved a little money.

I have used Polar and Wahoo before buying this and I bought this because I just wanted to see how Garmin compares to the others. This HR monitor is really good and measures the HR accurately, I use it with my PM5 monitor row and bike erg with Polar app and the concept2 ergdata. The only issue is the strap as I feel like after continuous use the strap becomes quite weird and as if it will break. Overall an excellent HR monitor especially the battery life, which is superb compared to others out there. The strap build quality is good but watch out for it after constant use as you might not be a fan of the strap, I have used it with Polar strap though and it still works fine.

Pros: Once the belt is watered properly works grand when connecting to an ergCons: does not connect to the Garmin watch simply. Each time I’ve gone to connect it via the app on my phone it’s failed to connect. Will need to go search the Garmin watch Bluetooth settings,it may be the problem

The black color is sleek and unobtrusive, and the compact packaging was a nice touch. Whether you’re a fitness enthusiast or just starting out, this heart rate chest strap is a must-have for anyone serious about their health and fitness goals. Absolutely recommend!

The item meets the description and works as expected.Apparently the item was ‘Handed to resident’?? If so, how did it find it’s way to the recycle box on bin day when someone was home waiting to receive the delivery?? I think someone needs to work on their doorbell ringing skills
